From Tradition to Global Recognition
Olancraftworks began with a simple idea: to share the beauty and skill of African weaving with the world.
Growing up in Ghana, I watched the women in my community weave baskets not just for utility, but as a way of life — blending color, tradition, and resilience into every piece. These baskets held stories, supported families, and carried culture from one generation to the next.
A Humble Start on Etsy
In 2020, I launched our first online shop on Etsy, offering handmade Bolga baskets to customers across the globe. Through dedication to craftsmanship, sustainability, and customer care, our Etsy shop grew rapidly — earning hundreds of five-star reviews and loyal buyers.
However, in 2025, Etsy announced it would no longer support shops using PayPal, the main payment method for our business. This change forced us to pause our presence on Etsy.
A New Chapter on Shopify
To continue serving our customers and growing our mission, we launched Olancraftworks.com, our official online store powered by Shopify.
This shift gives us more flexibility, a better customer experience, and a platform to expand our collections — all while staying true to our values.
Honoring the Hands Behind the Craft
We work directly with talented artisans in Bolgatanga, Ghana — ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for traditional weaving techniques. Each basket is made from durable elephant grass and handwoven with pride, care, and cultural identity.
